Lots of gray whales

We went whale whatching on Tuesday 12-28-2010 and scored a great day with 3 gray whales, several risso's dolphins and beautiful weather.

Today Friday 12-31 we had an awesome trip and followed a group of 6 whales for about an hour. Calm seas and a bunch of whales.
No trip on Sat due to rain but maybe on Sunday.

Thanks

Gray Whales on the move

We have had many reports of gray whales cruising down the coast. Monterey WW has been seeing gray whales every day for about a week now. We will be running whale trips every day at 9:00 am during the
christmas break, weather and loads permiting. There are about 30,000 gray whales that migrate from the Bering Sea to Baja Mexico and have to pass through our area. Dress warmly and let's go see some whales.

BLUE WHALES TODAY!!

We had a slow week with only a few whales spotted but it looks like more bait is moving in to Estero Bay and some whales are moving in with it. Today we saw BLUE WHALES and cruised with them for about an hour. Also we saw lots of sealions and seabirds feeding on the bait. Several fishing boats also reported whales today. We will be running a trip tomorrow at 9:00 and have plenty of room on the boat so you could just show up and we'll get you on.

Thanks

whale update

Hi there, I got a little behind on the log so I will try to catch up. The whale watching has been a little spotty this week. Some days we saw humpbacks or blues and a couple of days we saw no whales due to weather or fog. On Saturday Sept 4th we saw BLUE WHALES on both the am and pm trips, On Sunday and Monday Sept 5 & 6 we missed the whales and issued return trip passes. We are still in the season for the humpback whales and they are still around on the coast. Every day is different and the whales could be back at our door step anytime. stay tuned for more developments.

Close encounters!! FRIENDLY WHALES!!

Today turned out to be the best day of the year for whale watching. On the morning trip we had 3 HUMPBACK WHALES and several DALL'S PORPOISES come right up to the boat and swim, spyhop and play around with the boat for about half an hour. One of the passengers was going to put video on Youtube. The weather was calm and sunny. Nicest day of the year!!

On the afternoon run we had a repeat performance with the HUMPBACK WHALES again just showering the passengers with whale breath. AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME!

Monday, August 30, 2010

This morning we were met with beautiful weather and HUMPBACK WHALES only one and a half miles from the entrance. We also were able to see birds feeding on bait fish, SEA OTTERS, and lots of SEA LIONS. We even saw a Humpback whale breach out side of us!!!! The bait seems to be moving in so we will likely see an increase of Humpback whales moving in close!!

Whale Watching:August 28th

On this mornings whale watching trip, we were about a mile out when we came across a feeding frenzy. There were Sea Lions, Pelicans, Cormorants, and Common Dolphins surrounding and feeding on the bait ball. It was super exciting, especially because the Common Dolphins rode our bow wakes. We continued to search for the whales after coming across the feeding frenzy. The captain saw whales in the distance, but unfortunately they were elusive. While heading in, a pod of Dalls Porpoises came up to the boat and rode the bow wakes for a good ten to fifteen minutes. Still a great trip overall.
